General Assistance

The municipality of Trenton administers a General Assistance program for the support of the poor. Pursuant to Title 22 MRSA 4305, the municipal officers have adopted an ordinance establishing that program. A copy of this ordinance and relevant statutes is available for inspection at the Trenton Town Office.

Persons who wish to apply for General Assistance may do so at the Trenton Town Office during the following times(s):

Day(s): Tuesday and/or Thursday 
Hour(s): 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. by Appointment ONLY

In an emergency, applicants may contact the General Administrator at 207-841-9202. The municipality’s General Assistance Administrator must issue a written decision regarding eligibility to all applicants within 24 hours of receiving an application. The Department of Human Services toll-free telephone number, to call with a question regarding the General Assistance Program is 1-800-442-6003.

Property Tax

The Town of Trenton offers the option of credit and debit card payments for your transactions, including payment of personal and property taxes. Please note: We use a third-party payment processor, Maine Payport, that charges a 2.5% services fee. The additional fee does not go to the Town. This is the same service provider that is used when payments are made in person in the Town Office.
