Universal Waste
EMR accepts universal waste (TVs, printers, computers, as well as batteries, fluorescent lamps, mercury thermostats, etc). Drop off day the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9 am – 1 pm. (The truck is right there near the pile of wood, before the collection barn. You don’t need to stop at the window and get weighed.)
Universal Waste: Here’s a full list of what you can drop off as universal waste. These items do not have to be separated.
- Rechargeable and button batteries
- Regular batteries such as AAA, AA, C, D, 9 V, etc. (NOT Lithium ion batteries or vape pens)
- Fever and cooking thermometers
- Some gas appliances
- PCB ballasts
- Lamps: high pressure sodium and fluorescent, neon, mercury vapor, and metal halide
- Mercury switches and devices
- Weather barometers
- Blood pressure cuffs
- TV, computer monitors, and CPUs (the “box”)
- Printers, scanners, and copiers
Hazardous Waste
Hazardous waste can be dropped on the annual Household and Universal Waste Disposal Collection day, hosted by Acadia Disposal District. The collection event for 2026 will be held at MDI High School on Saturday September 19, 2026.
